Robert Joe “Bob” Wilson, age 89, of Lewisburg, formerly of Minnehaha Springs, and Ironton, Ohio, passed away Sunday, July 10, 2016, at the Peyton Hospice House in Lewisburg.
Born Easter Sunday, April 11, 1927, in Ironton, Ohio, he was a son of the late Orville and Eva Mae Kelley Wilson.
Bob was raised in Ironton and Rock Camp, Ohio.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in Post WWII Germany from 1945 to 1947 in the Military Police. He graduated from Kitts Hill High School after returning from his service in the military.
He was a Mason and a member of the Scottish Rite. Following his work as a machinist at the Ironton Machine Shop and retirement from the Ashland Oil Refinery, where he was a machinist and maintenance supervisor and security guard, Bob and Treva moved to Minnehaha Springs where they lived for several years before moving to the Seasons Assisted Living in Lewisburg.
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his three brothers: Carl Wilson, whose wife was Alma; Vernon Wilson, whose wife was Ginni, and Ronald Wilson.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Treva Shively Wilson; two children, R. Dale Wilson, and wife, Emily, of East Lansing, Michigan, and Rita Wilson Kelly, and husband, Tony,­­­ of Minnehaha Springs; three grandchildren, Travis Wilson, and wife, Erin, of Okemos, Michigan, and Brandon Kelly and Kristen Nicholas, of Minnehaha Springs, and Staci Kelly and Justin Smith, of Goose Creek, South Carolina; two great-grandsons, Jesse Kelly, of Minnehaha Springs, and Cole Robert Wilson, of Okemos, Michigan; sister-in-law, Joyce Wilson; niece, Rhonda Wilson, and a nephew, Tim Wilson.
Bob was a devoted family man and will be greatly missed by his family.
Funeral service will be Friday, July 15, 2016, at the Tracy Brammer Monroe Funeral Home in Ironton, Ohio. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday, July 15, 2016, followed by a graveside service at the Woodland Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Peyton House Hospice, 1265, Maplewood Avenue, Lewisburg, WV 24901.
