Richard Homer “Dick” Reigel, age 75, entered into eternal life Saturday, April 15, 2017.

Born March 31, 1942, in Buffalo, New York, he was a son of the late Isaac Newton and Clarice Blake Reigel.

Dick graduated from Kenmore West High School and New York State Ranger School. He proudly served his country in the United States Army.

He was a forestry technician, retiring from the USDA Forest Service at Bartow with 42 years of service. He fought forest fires in many locations throughout the United States. He spoke highly of the people at the Forest Service, and the construction and logging industries, which he worked with through the years.

Dick was a member of the Pine Grove Church of the Brethren, Durbin Lions Club, American Legion and Pocahontas County Veterans Honor Corps.

His spirit is carried on by his family and friends from every walk of life.

He is survived by his wife, Henrietta Shinaberry Reigel, whom he married May 24, 1969;  a daughter, Tina Prinstein, and husband, Mitchell; a son, Scott Reigel, and wife, Jessica; a sister, Catherine McCormick, and husband, James; a brother, Robert Reigel, and wife, Stell; and five grandchildren, Kate Reigel, Lillian Reigel, Bethany Reigel, Samara Prinstein and Max Prinstein.

Richard desired his memory to be an echo whispering softly through the trees of the happy times and sunny days spent with family, friends and in the hearts of all who knew him.

Family will receive friends Friday, April 28, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Pine Grove Church of the Brethren. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, April 29, 10 a.m. at the Pine Grove Church of the Brethren with Pastors Julian Rittenhouse and David Rittenhouse officiating.Interment will be in the Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery, Back Mountain Road, Durbin, with Military Rites by the Pocahontas County Veterans Honor Corps. A picnic celebration will follow at the Bethel United Methodist Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Pocahontas County Veterans Honor Corps or the Durbin Lions Club, c/o James “Rick” Wooddell, PO Box 176, Green Bank, WV 24944.
