Rhoda Barb

Rhoda Lucretia Summerfield Barb, age 90, of Marlinton, died Monday, March 23, 2015, at Pocahontas Center.

Born July 22, 1924, at Wymer, she was the daughter of the late Carl Jesse and Floda Alice Smith Summerfield.

Rhoda was a sales clerk, homemaker and mother.

She was a member of the Marlinton United Methodist Church, Marlinton United Methodist Women and the VFW Auxiliary.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Howard James Barb; a sister, Maxine Summerfield; and brothers, Huffman Summerfield, Neven Summerfield, William Summerfield and Virgil Summerfield.

She is survived by her daughters, Judith Acton, of Florida, and Lillian Goldizen, and husband, James, of Marlinton; three sons, Delmas Barb, and wife, Terry, and William Barb, and wife, Linda, all of Marlinton, and Michael Barb, and wife, Mandy, of Baltimore, Maryland; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral service is Thursday, March 26, 1 p.m. at VanReenen Funeral Home with Pastor Sam Felton officiating. Interment will be in the Mountain View Cemetery in Marlinton. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Memorials may be made to the Marlinton United Methodist Church Building Fund.
