Rhoda Lucretia Summerfield Barb, age 90, of Marlinton, died Monday, March 23, 2015, at Pocahontas Center.\r\n\r\nBorn July 22, 1924, at Wymer, she was the daughter of the late Carl Jesse and Floda Alice Smith Summerfield.\r\n\r\nRhoda was a sales clerk, homemaker and mother. \r\n\r\nShe was a member of the Marlinton United Methodist Church, Marlinton United Methodist Women and the VFW Auxiliary.\r\n\r\nIn addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Howard James Barb; a sister, Maxine Summerfield; and brothers, Huffman Summerfield, Neven Summerfield, William Summerfield and Virgil Summerfield.\r\n\r\nShe is survived by her daughters, Judith Acton, of Florida, and Lillian Goldizen, and husband, James, of Marlinton; three sons, Delmas Barb, and wife, Terry, and William Barb, and wife, Linda, all of Marlinton, and Michael Barb, and wife, Mandy, of Baltimore, Maryland; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.\r\n\r\nFuneral service is Thursday, March 26, 1 p.m. at VanReenen Funeral Home with Pastor Sam Felton officiating. Interment will be in the Mountain View Cemetery in Marlinton. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. \r\n\r\nMemorials may be made to the Marlinton United Methodist Church Building Fund.
