Newcomb was the daughter of William P. and Florence May Phillips Newcomb. She was born Dec. 7, 1886, at French Creek, Upshur County, W.Va. Berton Ellis Smith was the son of Peter Joseph and Alcinda Brain Smith and was born Feb. 18, 1886, at Cleveland, Upshur County, W.Va. Mr. Smith was the Mayor of Marlinton from 1935 to 1937.
