The lady in this portrait is Rebecca Sharp Duffield, the daughter of John Sharp and Sarah McCollam, born June 24, 1815. She married John R. Duffield December 5, 1835. Their children were Sarah Jane, Henry Wesley, John Emory, Newton Simmons and Nancy Ellen. The family lived on Jerico Road near Marlinton, West Virginia. Rebecca Duffield died November 16, 1894 at Edray and is buried in the Duffield Cemetery. (Curry and Duffield Family Collection, Courtesy of Craig Schulz, ID: PHP007942)
