Preserving Pocahontas

Ice on Knapps Creek – 1896

This photo of the ice on Knapps Creek was taken in 1896. We see two wagons with drivers, three young boys sitting on a snow pile and a man on the far side of the creek. This looks like it could be the area on Ninth Avenue in Marlinton just above the water plant. Pocahontas Co. Historical Society Collection, ID: PHS003651
