Patrick Scott Saffer, 40, passed away suddenly Tuesday, April 16, 2024, while traveling from his beloved Pocahontas County to Ripley, where he was currently living.

He was born August 10, 1983 in Greenbrier County and was raised in Hillsboro. He loved the beauty of the mountains and Greenbrier River. He graduated from Pocahontas County High School and was so proud to be a third generation WVU graduate where he received his degree in Forestry.

He had several jobs over the years but nothing as fulfilling as his time with the WVDNR as assistant park superintendent at Coopers Rock State Forest.

Patrick had struggled with depression and anxiety since the death of his best friend and brother, Shannon Vaughan Saffer.

He is survived by his loving mother, Dede Parsons Saffer, of Ripley; father, Martin Saffer, of Hillsboro; half-brother, Charles Saffer, and family, of Charleston; uncles, Greg Parsons, of Ripley, and Pat Parsons, of Charleston, and their families. He will also be missed by his best dog, Bobo.

To honor his wishes, there will be no formal service. A private family service will be held at a later date. Online memories and condolences may be sent to the family by visiting waybrightfuneralhome.com
