Patrick Noel Cahill, age 61, of Huttonsville, departed this life early Sunday morning, August 2, 2015, at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, with his son by his side. He had been in usual health and death was unexpected.
Born Thursday, March 25, 1954, in Worth, Illinois, he was a son of the late Philip Bernard and Bridget Claire Gallager Cahill.
Patrick was a 1972 graduate of Dematha High School in Hyattsville, Maryland, and received his Master’s Degree in Education from Glenville State College.
He was an educator at Tygarts Valley High School for 16 years, and more recently worked as a counselor for Huttonsville Correctional Center.
He worked with the Special Olympics and the Challenged Athletes of West Virginia for 30 years, and was a volunteer instructor for the Snowshoe Adaptive Ski Program.
Patrick had a keen interest in conservation and the environment. He enjoyed skiing, gardening and his dog, “Frosty.” He especially loved his grandson, Elijah.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Philip Gerald Cahill and John Kevin Cahill.
He is survived by a son, Aaron Haskel Cahill, and wife, Jaina, of Huttonsville; a brother, Matthew Joseph Cahill, of Crofton, Maryland; four sisters, Susan Wilson, and husband, Peter, of Silver Springs, Maryland, RoseMary Rochford, and husband, Thomas, of Montgomery Village, Maryland, Teresa Maguire, of Bethesda, Maryland, and Catherine Cahill, of Ireland; and a grandson, Elijah Edwin Cahill.
Funeral service was August 8, at Lohr and Barb Funeral Home in Elkins.
