Patricia Gibson

Patricia M. Gibson, beloved wife and mother, passed away Sunday morning, April 9, 2017, at Eagles Trace Skilled Nursing Facility in Houston, Texas.

Born July 14, 1931, at Cass, she was a daughter of the late Audra and Lyle W. McPherson.

While growing up in Cass, Patricia was known throughout the community for her cooking and baking skills, a talent and love that followed her through life.

Patricia graduated cum laude from Marshall College Teaching School in 1953 with a Bachelor of Arts      degree in Latin. Upon graduation, she moved to Chillicothe, Ohio, where she taught high school English and Latin for two years, and headed the school’s performing arts curriculum.

In 1954, Patricia married Walter R. Gibson, of Birmingham, Alabama. The couple moved several times through the years with Walter’s career in nuclear engineering. In 2003, they moved to New Ulm, Texas, to spend their retirement years.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Walter R. Gibson; a daughter, Christy Gibson, of Houston, Texas; a brother, Gary D. McPherson, and family, of Morgantown; and many cousins and relatives across the country.

The family wishes to thank the caring nursing staff at Eagles Trace Skilled Nursing Facility in West Houston for their compassionate care.

A graveside service was held April 13 at Pilgrims Rest Cemetery in Industry, Texas, with Rev. Leighanne Brechin of Industry United Methodist Church officiating.
