Pocahontas Memorial Hospital is pleased to welcome Kristy Riffe to the rehabilitation team to provide a full range of occupational therapy services to the community.
Riffe just recently received her degree as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant and will be working under the supervision of Leslie Gooddall. Gooddall is an Occupational Therapist who provides services not only to Pocahontas Memorial Hospital patients, but in the education system, as well.
Rehabilitation services are available for both inpatients and outpatients in need of treatment in the recovery of a surgery, illness, or other medical condition. Occupational Therapy helps patients re-learn essential skills like feeding oneself, dressing, bathing or other tasks. This is especially useful after an injury or stroke.
“Before they go home, we want to make sure patients can completely care for themselves,” Riffe said. Riffe received her degree from St. Catherine University in Virginia and completed her rotation with Genesis Healthcare Pocahontas Center and LHC Home Care Plus. Riffe has lived in Pocahontas County since 2010 with her husband, Jason.
