Nellie Marie Oscar, age 82, of Marlinton, passed away Saturday, July 30, 2016, at Pocahontas Center in Marlinton.

Born August 17, 1933, at Buckeye, she was a daughter of the late William Potter and Minnie Auldridge Potter.

Nellie was a caregiver and had worked for 22 years on the kitchen staff at The Homestead in Hot Springs, Virginia.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Oscar; four daughters, Pamela Jean Oscar, Minnie Elizabeth Oscar, Debra Kay Oscar and Virginia Oscar; two sons, Bruce Oscar and Thomas Oscar; a brother, James Potter; and three sisters, Lavinia Cassell, Virginia Higgenbotham and Elva Wooddell.

She is survived by three daughters, Wilma Underwood, of Marlinton, Susan Carr, of Rocky Point, North Carolina, and Pattie Turbyfill, of Virginia; two sons, Roy W. Oscar, Sr., and Ray Oscar, both of Marlinton; 13 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.

Funeral service was August 2 at Kimble Funeral Home in Marlinton with Pastor Norman Alderman officiating.
