Pocahontas County Schools school-business partnership with Nature’s Mountain Classroom has been named one of eight regional winners in the West Virginia Education Alliance’s inaugural Hope for the Future: WV School-Business Partnership of the Year Awards Program.
Pocahontas County Schools’ partnership with Nature’s Mountain Classroom will receive a $2,000 celebration grant and will compete with the other seven winners for the State Partnership of the Year. The winner will be named May 15 at The Education Summit, featuring actress Jennifer Garner, and will receive an award package valued at $25,000.
With the goal of recognizing impactful school-business partnerships that are giving West Virginia K-12 students a leg up in academic success and career preparation, the Education Alliance Caperton Center for School and Business Partnerships, with the support of Hope Gas, has launched the Hope for the Future: WV School-Business Partnership of the Year Awards Program.
Description of Winning Entry: Every student in Pocahontas County (pre-K through 5th) is given the opportunity to explore Nature’s Mountain Classroom. From story book- based Playground adventures for the youngest students; skiing, hiking, kayaking, mountain biking and overnight camping trips for middle school; career exploration and leadership skill building in high school. Learning has never been more immersive.
