Nancy Edens

Nancy Chestnut Edens, age 85, of Tallahassee, Florida, went to be with the Lord Monday, August 15, 2016.

Born January 6, 1931, in Huntersville, she was a daughter of the late Russell Gilmer and Blanche Bussard Chestnut.

Nancy was Valedictorian of the Marlinton High School Class of 1949. She married Sam Jack Edens August 12, 1955, in Kingsport, Tennessee. They raised three children. During that time, they lived in Kingsport, Tennessee, and East Stroundeberg, Pennsylvania, before settling in Tallahassee, Florida.
Nancy worked at Rose Printing Company and Municipal Code as a proofreader and later as a legal editor. In 1980, Nancy and her family moved to California. In 1989 she and her husband started their own printing business, S&S Pre-Press. In 2001, Nancy retired and she and her husband moved back to Tallahassee, Florida.

Nancy lived for the Lord and loved being with her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Sam Edens, in 2011; a grandchild, Daniel Seth Bray; three sisters, Mary, Marie and Sue; and three brothers, John Chestnut, Carol Chestnut and Ronald Chestnut.

She is survived by three children, Jackie Bray, and husband, Larry, Kirk Edens, and wife, Janie, and Susan Wester, and husband, Mike; seven grandchildren, Samuel Bray, and wife, Abigail, Jeremy Bray, and wife, Christine, Joseph Bray, and wife, Carlena, Bethany Bray, Sara Grace Bray, Karli Edens and Samantha Bright, and husband, Mason; eight great-grandchildren, Anna, Beth-an, Isabella, Rachel, Felicia, Theodore, Walter and Beatrice Bray and two on the way; and a brother, Russell Chestnut.

Family will receive friends Sunday, August 28 from 1 to 3 p.m. at Morris-Baker Funeral Home in Johnson City, Tennessee. A graveside service will follow at 3:30 p.m. at Roselawn Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Nancy’s name may be made to the “Grace to You” Ministry, PO Box 4000, Panorama City, CA 91412.
