Mildred Kate Blackhurst King, age 90, formerly of Charleston, passed from this life Monday, January 19, 2015.
Born June 13, 1924, at Cass, she was a daughter of the late Bill and Lillie Blackhurst.
In the mid 1940s, Mildred worked for the Cohen Drug Store in Charleston. She was active in the Garden Club, Extension Homemakers, Lyons and volunteered at the Union Mission. She was a member of the Union Mission Auxiliary.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles E. King, Sr.; two sisters, Lucille Hall and Zoe Barlow; and three brothers, Bill Blackhurst, Arthur Blackhurst and Frances Blackhurst.
She is survived by a son, Charles E. King, Jr., and wife, Phyllis, of Kanawha City; grandchildren, Stacey, of Baltimore, Maryland, and Amy, of Charleston; a great-granddaughter, Gracie; a brother, Bob Blackhurst, of Ravenswood; and three step-grandchildren, Linzy, Lauryn and Luke. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, family members and friends who will miss her.
Funeral service was January 22 at Barlow Bonsall Funeral Home in Charleston with Rev. Rex Whitemen officiating. Interment was in the Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens in Cross Lanes.
