Mildred Boggs

Mildred Jane Boggs, age 84, of Harrisburg, North Carolina, died Thursday, July 30, 2015, at Northwest Medical Center in Concord, North Carolina.

Born March 30, 1931, in Marlinton, she was a daughter of the late John and Minnie Jordan. She along with her twin sister, Jean, were the youngest of 11 children.

Mildred attended Greenbrier Elementary School through the eighth grade and later received her high school diploma.

As a child and young mother, she spent many years attending the Baptist churches in Marlinton and Brownsburg. After retiring and moving back to Marlinton, Mildred became a member of the Marlinton First Church of the Nazarene.

Mildred was a stay at home mother until moving to New Jersey, where she worked and retired from ShopRite Super Market.

On December 23, 1946, she married John Boggs, Sr.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Boggs, Sr.; sons, John Boggs, Jr., Leal Boggs and Danny Boggs; and siblings, Sue Johnson, Ernest Jordan, Vergie Jordan, Nancy Jordan, John Jordan, Jr., Lucy May Gary, Mary Loving, Roy Jordan and Jean Jordan.

Those left to mourn are her daughters, Gloria Thompson, and husband, Ed, of El Paso, Texas, Mildred Fung, and husband, Glen, of Charlotte, North Carolina, Eugenia Anderson, of Marlinton, and Minnie Ross, and husband, Jesse, of Harrisburg, North Carolina; titular son, Lee Boggs, of Plainfield, New Jersey; grandchildren, Arthur Scott, Jr., David Coit, Ericka Boggs, Charles Boggs, Robert Coit, III, Joel Boggs, Dawn Mayfield, Shawn Boggs, Andrew Lacy, Ernest Coit, Danyelle Johnson, Matthew Boggs and Denise Johnson; 33 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral service is Saturday, August 8, at 2 p.m. at VanReenen Funeral Home.
