April is Spring Clean-up
Marlinton Mayor Sam Felton

The Town of Marlinton has designated April 11 through 15 as “Clean Up Week.”
This will be your opportunity to drag it out and bag it up.
We will haul it away.
Large leaf bags are available at the Town office. There is a charge of $10 to $25 dollars for pickup of appliances or other large items.
Some items must be separated to be accepted at the landfill. Call the town office if you want to dispose of specific electronic items such as: key boards, computers, printers, TVs and/or stereos.
Also, for individuals, there will be a Free Tire Collection Day at the Pocahontas County Landfill Saturday, April 23, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. A valid driver’s license is required, and each individual may dispose of up to 10 tires. Rims will be accepted, as well.
I want to say “thank you” to the Beautification Committee for all the work they have done and to the rest of council for their support with regard to the seasonal decoration we enjoyed this winter. The council approved the purchase of new concrete planters and flag banners, which the Town Crew has installed for the summer months.
My hat is off to Sue, BJ, Don, Norris, Mark and Adam. You imagined a renewed Main Street, and it is happening.
Also, to Mike, Kevin, Donald and Sam for helping place, fill and cleanup – and, we all know nothing happens without Star and Linda.
For those who are wondering what’s next – we have hanging planters to go on lampposts, but, some electrical work remains to be completed between First and Second Avenues. Then, Ms. Louise and her crew will be planting sometime in May.
Don’t you love Springtime?
