Mary Etta Smith Bennett, age 77, of Martinsburg, passed away Wednesday, January 7, 2015, at her home.
Born March 18, 1937, in Marlinton, she was a daughter of the late Goldie Irene McNeill Smith and Samuel Glenn Smith.
Mrs. Bennett attended school in Marlinton and was a graduate of Hillsboro High School. After moving to Berkeley Springs, she attended Potomac State College.
She was employed by various retail establishments in the Martinsburg area, including the Lace Store and Eyerly’s. She also worked in her husband’s insurance agency for many years, until his retirement.
She had an avid love of gardening and nature that she inherited from her parents, by being raised on a farm in a rural setting.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Elmo Ray Bennett, on October 3, 2002; and a sister, Glenda Irene Sharp, on October 13, 2006.
She is survived by her daughter, Gina Michele Walters, and husband, Robert, of Moonlight Meadows.
Graveside service was January 15 at Rosedale Cemetery with Pastor Chris B. Johnson officiating.
