Martha McCarty

Martha Lou McCarty, 76, of Durbin, formerly of Dunmore, passed away Tuesday, January 16, 2024, at the home of her daughter.

Born October 21, 1947, in Charleston, she was a daughter of the late Delbert and Edith Lanham Brewer.

Martha was known for her amazing personality and her huge heart. She always had a desire to help everyone she met, and her kindness touched the lives of many. Martha never met a stranger, only friends that she had either forgotten or never had the chance to meet. She was a friend, adopted mom and grandmother to those who knew her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kyle Junior McCarty; daughter, Paula Mae Burdette; son, David Hise Jr.; stepsons, Kyle Lee McCarty and Carl McCarty; granddaughter, Haylie Syca-foose; grandson, Jerrell Defibaugh; great-grandson, Dalton Defibaugh; sisters, Anna Lee Graves, Carolyn Lemons and Beulah Legg; and brother, Ralph Brewer.

She is survived by daughters, Katrina McLaughlin, Felinda Barb and husband, Richard, step-daughter, Pamela McLaughlin; grandchildren, Marlee McLaughlin, Sage McLaughlin, Doug and Becky McCarty, Sarah Jane McCarty, Sheena McCarty, Karey Barb, Shyann Yingling and husband, William, Clarissa Barb, Kenny Defibaugh and wife, Amber, Danielle Good, and husband, Curtis, Dafnie Defibaugh, and Parker Sycafoose; adopted grand-daughter, Leah Clemons; great-grandchildren, Lindsey Good, Kayden Good, Colton Haught, Elena Haught, Addy Defibaugh, Hayden Defibaugh, Wyatt Defibaugh, Mary Arbogast, Zandra Arbogast, Emma McCarty, John McCarty, Annabelle McCarty, Joshua McCarty, Brayden Phillips, Shyanna Phillips, and Greyson Yingling; sisters, Erma Dill and Patty Hubbard; and many nieces and nephews.

Martha wishes will be kept. The body will be cremated, and a private service will be held at a later date.
