Marsha June Pennington Weaver, 69, of Lucasville, Ohio, formerly of Marlinton, peacefully passed away Friday, March 20, 2026, after a long illness.
Born June 24, 1956, in Marlinton, she was a daughter of the late Marie Schoolcraft Pennington and Frank Robert Pennington.
Marsha graduated from Pocahontas County High School – Class of 1974. She went on to work at Hanover Shoe Company. A devout member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, Marsha found joy in singing during worship services. Her favorite hymn was “Blessed Assurance Jesus is Mine,” a song that reflected her deep faith and brought comfort to those who heard her voice. She attended church camp in the mountains of West Virginia every year, building lifelong friendships.
Marsha had a generous spirit and a heart for service. She volunteered at Pocahontas Center and the Greenbrier Better Living Center, where her kindness and compassion left a lasting impact on those she helped. She also shared her love for country music with everyone around her. Billy Joe Royal was her favorite singer, and she cherished the opportunity to see him perform live three times—a memory she held dear. She loved to shop for clothes and had an excellent eye for fashion. She loved visiting with friends and family in Marlinton.
Marsha is survived by her sister, Iris Settle (Thad Settle); brothers, Jerry Pennington and Jeff Pennington (Angie); as well as many nieces and nephews who will fondly remember her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a nephew, Adam Pennington.
Throughout her life’s journey, Marsha touched the hearts of many people with her warmth and sincerity. Her presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her, including the staff at Edgewood Manor of Lucasville, who loved her dearly.
May Marsha’s memory bring comfort to those who mourn her passing and inspire others to carry forward the love and kindness she so freely gave.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, March 28, 2026, at 2 p.m. at VanReenen Funeral home with Lay Pastor Carmen LaRue officiating.
