Also, please mark your calendar so you can sit in on a virtual meeting Monday, October 12, at 3 p.m. in the Municipal Auditorium.
The Action Team meeting will provide an opportunity to introduce prospec- tive members to the MFT Partnership and explain what it means to be on a MFT Partnership Action Team. The meeting will explain how to plan a Community Action Meeting. Emily Cook is a Community Projects Manager with the MFTP and will provide introductory materials later.
For public information:
The Mon Forest Towns Partnership received two Almost Heaven Achievement Awards September 22 from the West Virginia Department of Tourism at the annual Governor’s Tourism Conference in Charleston.
Across the eight-county region, MFTP’s marketing efforts have introduced its 12 small mountain towns as one outdoor destination, generating more than seven million impressions this year alone. “These awards are a testament to the strength of our coalition,” said Josh Nease, MFTP executive director.
Also, I had the pleasure of riding in the 88th Elkins Forest Festival Parade last Saturday, just in front of our own Pocahontas Coun-ty High School marching band. As they staged and practiced on one street, we lined up on another. So, I did not have an opportunity to talk with band members, but I wanted parents and supporters to know I was directed to drive in front of them. It was a unique experience, and I was pleased to be in that spot.
The PCHS Band may be few in number, but they did great and sounded great.
I was surprised to hear so many people applauding and cheering for Pocahontas County along the parade route. It was a great time.
When we returned home, we watched the entire parade on YouTube.
