Lucille McLaughlin

Lucille A. McLaughlin, age 94, formerly of Carey, Ohio, died Sunday, January 18, 2015, at 8:15 a.m. at Fairhaven Community in Upper Sandusky, Ohio.

Born February 6, 1920, at Renick, she was a daughter of the late Tivis B. and Rosa E. Webb Adkins.

Lucille married George Gum in June 5, 1939. He preceded her in death on May 2, 1952. She later married Sterl McLaughlin and they divorced.

Lucille was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church in Cary, Ohio. She retired in 1985 from Westinghouse in Upper Sandusky, Ohio.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Billie Jo McLaughlin; a brother Buddy Gum; three sisters, Maude Surbaugh, Ruth Hollinsworth and Doris Tyree; and four brothers, John, Ed, Raymond and Leonard Adkins.

She is survived by four children, George T. Gum, and wife, Meredith, of Westerville, Ohio, James R. Gum, and wife, Brenda, Lois Crace and Wendell McLaughlin, and wife, Paula, all of Carey, Ohio; seven grandchildren; Lori, Andy, and wife, Heidi, Rhonda, Scott, and wife, Tracy, Wesley, Stephanie, and husband, Josh, and David and wife, Lori; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Family will receive friends January 21 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home in Carey, Ohio. Funeral service is January 22 at 11 a.m. at Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home with Rev. James Sharrett officiating. Interment will be in Spring Grove Cemetery near Carey, Ohio.
