Lois Ann Barlow Beverage, of Marlinton, peacefully passed away at her home Thursday, July 17, 2025, with family by her side.
Born November 29, 1945, she was the daughter of the late Ward and Louise Barlow.
Lois Ann never knew a stranger and always had a door open to her home for anyone who wanted to stop by for conversation. She was selflessly devoted to all in her family and gave every ounce of her being to ensure they were taken care of. Lois Ann was active in the school system as a cook and fed many in Pocahontas County. She was famous for her beautiful handsewn quilts, her salt-rising bread and mouthwatering cinnamon rolls. If she was coming to Thanksgiving dinner, the table was never without her homemade rolls or bread.
She was a member of Eastern Star, Modern Woodmen and the church organizations she was affiliated with over the years. She loved camping and always looked forward to sitting around a campfire with those close to her. She was active in 4-H – a proud Delaware – and fully embraced Head, Heart, Hands and Health. Her involvement in 4-H spread to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and her message of humility, kindness, gentleness and compassion will be forever remembered. Lois Ann was an excellent human being and an exceptional example to those around her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Bob Barlow and Richard Barlow; and son, Richard Albert Beverage.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 62 years, Marvin, and was holding his hand throughout her last breath. She also leaves behind her son, Gray Beverage, of Cass, (Autumn, Melinda and Mary); grandsons, Brian Robinson, of Fraziers Bottom, (Tara, Olivia, Ava), Jason Robinson, of Talbott, Tennessee, (Sharon, Lakin, Avory, Owen), Coy Beverage, of Shepherdstown, Colt Beverage and Preston Beverage, both of Edray; granddaughter, Nebraska Scotchie, of Slaty Fork, (Jason, Simon, Micah); nephews, Herby Barlow, of Edray, (Jennifer, Nicole, Grayson), Rick Barlow, of Seattle Washington, (Steve); and Jeff Barlow, of Edray, (Star, Britney, Lyndsey); and niece, Tammi Barlow, of Edray, (Joni).
A graveside service will be held Sunday, July 27, 2025, at 1 p.m. at Cochran Cemetery with Carmen LaRue officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Pocahontas County 4-H Foundation, 900 E 10th Avenue, Marlinton, WV 24954.
Arrangements are being handled by VanReenen Funeral Home.
