Lilly Gertrude Taylor, 101, of Green Bank, passed away Tuesday, August 13, 2024, at Pocahontas Center in Marlinton.

Born August 5, 1923, in Dunmore, she was a daughter and last surviving child of the union of the late James Ray and Inez Mercedes Oliver Horner.

Gertrude was a homemaker and a member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bedford Russell Taylor; step-daughter, Sandra Postlethwait; grandson, Chuck Postlethwait; sister, Naomi Ruth Horner McQuain; and brothers, Neil Horner and Byrle Horner.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Shirley McLaughlin Carpenter; son, Bedford “Rusty” Taylor (Holly); step-son, Randy Taylor; grandchildren, Mark Carpenter (Glennetta), Mike Carpenter (Joyce), Wendy Sharp (Don), Cheryl Topper (Ron), Chris Taylor (Melissa), Shawn Taylor (Anita), Debbie Snider (Jeff), Cindy Lagassee, and husband, Scott, and Kelly Skinner; 14 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; eight step-great-grandchildren; one step-great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service was held Saturday, August 17, 2024, at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church with Pastor Amy Barkley Paul officiating.

Interment was in Arbovale Cemetery Annex.

Wallace and Wallace Funeral Home in Arbovale is in charge of arrangements.
