The Pocahontas County Libraries and Visitor Information Centers are beginning to expand services to our communities through appointment-based service.
Using this service, patrons can browse materials inside the library, send faxes, get copies made, and use the public computers. Opening during a pandemic looks different, and I want to keep everyone updated on what to expect. Our goal is to increase available services while keeping our staff and community members as safe as possible.
Half-hour appointments can be scheduled by calling the library. The libraries are following the capacity limit recommendations established by the WV Department of Health and Human Resources. This limits the number of people in the building at one time. Scheduling an appointment ensures that you will not have to wait once you get to the library.
Once at the library, ring the doorbell to notify the librarian that you are there. A face covering is required to enter. The governor has mandated face coverings and all patrons and staff must wear a face covering inside (unless under the age of nine). If you do not have one, or choose not to wear one – curbside service can still be used.
Once in the library hand sanitizer is available to use before browsing books or using the computer. Computers and other seating is spaced six feet apart. As you walk around the library, please maintain this distance with other people in the library. Computers are sanitized after each use and high touch areas such as doors are sanitized frequently. We still quarantine library materials for 72 hours after being returned from a loan period.
At this time children under 12 must be accompanied and supervised by an adult. Public restrooms are closed and capacity requirements do not allow for meetings to be scheduled.
Curbside service will continue to be available for patrons that prefer to receive materials this way. Call the library to request items and they will be placed outside on the curbside cart.
We appreciate your support and cooperation and look forward to seeing you soon.
