Dear Editor:
Soon the residents of the town of Marlinton will have an opportunity to voice their opinions on who will lead their town into the future.
Election Day is Tuesday, June 9.
Before making a decision about who you will vote for in this important election, the Marlinton Woman’s Club would like to invite you to a “Meet the Candidates Night” Thursday, June 4, at 7 p.m. in the Marlinton Municipal Building Auditorium.
At this event, you will be able to get answers to your questions from the candidates by writing those questions on a 3” X 5” index card and submitting them to the moderator.
The candidate’s response will hopefully assist you in making a more informed decision about the leadership of the community.
Why is this an important election?
You have a decision to make about who your next mayor will be and who will occupy five town council seats. These will be the future leaders of Marlinton.
For those of you who live outside the town limits of Marlinton, this is also an important election – those who are elected to fill town leadership positions will define the future direction of our town and surrounding area; they will decide how best to rebuild the infrastructure of the town; they will make decisions about your water fees and fire fees and they will have an opportunity to reinvigorate our town into a thriving and economically vibrant community.
Marlinton faces serious challenges. Whether we live in town or in the county, these issues affect all of us.
It’s your choice.
If you attend this meeting. If you ask your questions. If you vote. You will be taking part in the future of Marlinton.
Sincerely,
Karin Cogswell
Marlinton Woman’s Club
