John William Welch, age 77, of Hillsboro, died Sunday, November 20, 2016, at Pocahontas Memorial Hospital in Buckeye.

Born March 20, 1939, at Calvin, he was a son of the late Leo Welch and Mary Mullen Hamons.

John was a retired water line maintenance worker. He was a member of AARP, NRA, Yorkshire Volunteer Fire Department and the Seventh-Day Adventist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Carol Sue Mullens.

He is survived by his wife, Carol Sue Brady Welch; two daughters, Mary Sue Evelene Lucas, of Beckley, Sandra Marie Welch, of Fredericksburg, Virginia; two sons, Jim William Welch, of Fredericksburg, Virginia, and Billy Joe Welch, of Strasburg, Virginia; three sisters, Nancy Rogers and Rhonda Collins, both of Bridgewater, Virginia, and Marie Soriano, of Buckeye; three brothers, Beecher Hamons, Jr., of Marlinton, and Kenneth Hamons and Joe Hamons, both of Hillsboro; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Graveside service was November 23 at Oak Grove Cemetery with Pastor Robert Michael officiating. Interment was in Oak Grove Cemetery.
