John M. Walls Jr., age 64, passed away Sunday, March 14, 2021.

He was a son of Laura Putze, of Concord, North Carolina, and the late John M. Walls Sr. He was the grandson of the late James and Tessie Moore, who lived at Boissevain Mountain, Virginia. John’s grandfather was a descendant of Captain James Moore, who lived in Abbs Valley, Virginia, through Issac Quinn Moore.

John was born September 6, 1956, raised in Pocahontas County and graduated from Pocahontas County High School.

He was Pastor of Freedom Baptist Church in Smithfield, North Carolina, for 29 years and worked in the nursing profession for 30 years.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 43 years, Wanda; sons, John M. Walls III, and wife, Kristie, of Benson, North Carolina, Benjamin Walls, and wife, Kristi, of Milton, Florida, Seth Walls, and wife, Kendra, of Kenly, North Carolina; three brothers, Andy, of Raleigh, North Carolina, Joe, of Concord, North Carolina, and Frank Johnson, of Tazewell, Virginia; sisters, Linda Aguillard, of Mississippi, and Diana Tate, of Concord, North Carolina; grandchildren, Taylor Marino, and husband, Jesse, Alex Walls, Caleb Walls, Mackenzie Walls, Savanna Walls, Kenley Walls, Ella Walls and Ryan Walls; two great-grandchildren, Avery Marino and Jesse Marino.
