Joan Carlisle Wimer Ervine, 87, of Marlinton, peacefully joined the Lord Monday, April 8, 2025. Born October 17, 1937, in Marlinton, she was a daughter of the late James Marvin and Merle Rexrode Wimer.
She married Kenneth M. Ervine October 27, 1957.
Throughout her teen years, Joan and Kenneth, along with her parents and sister traveled extensively competing in numerous archery tournaments.
After high school, Joan attended West Virginia Tech where she completed a one-year degree in Business Management. She returned home in 1956 and went to work as the Deputy County Clerk for Pocahontas County. Joan also worked for the Marlinton Electric Company before helping Kenneth run the Marlinton Cleaners and Highlander Center Laundromat until 1996. She then ran the Pocahontas County Country Club clubhouse for many years.
She is survived by her sister, Rebecca (Bernie) Vieira; son, Shawn Ervine (Me-lissa); daughter, Jan Ervine Jonese (Mark); grandchildren, Jessica Ervine, Carlie Ervine, Max Ervine, Derek Jonese (Samantha), Alex Jonese (Cydney), Sara Simmons (Stephen) and Allison Vance (Matt); four great-grandchildren; and her faithful dog, Ruger.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
