James Thompson

James Leroy Thompson, age 66, of Sugar Grove, passed away Thursday, March 1, 2018, at Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center in Clarksburg.

Born June 11, 1951, in Durbin, he was a son of Sylvia Bell Lambert Mullenax, of Durbin and the late Arthur Carlos Thompson.

James had worked for Hanover Shoe Company, and was a United States Army Vietnam Veteran.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by two sons; and a brother, Arthur Gary Thompson.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his step-father, Arthur “Bud” Mullenax; two sisters, Sandra Kay Moats, and husband, Joe, and Mary Leta McCray, and husband, Bobby, all of Sugar Grove; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held March 7, 2 p.m. at Basagic Funeral Home in Franklin with Pastor Nick Eye officiating. Interment will be in the Cedar Hill Cemetery in Franklin with Military Rites by the Pendleton County Veterans Honor Guard and representatives of the United States Army Reserve from Camp Dawson. Family will receive friends two hours prior to the service.
