James Thomas

James Tolbie Thomas, Jr., age 84, of Hillsboro, passed away Friday, September 2, 2016, at the Beckley VA Medical Center.

Born May 23, 1932, at Iager, he was a son of the late James Tolbie Thomas, Sr., and Martha Sylvania Roberts Thomas.

James was a United States Army Veteran, having served in Korea. He worked as a laborer in a mobile home factory. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and working
on his farm.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Margaret Lester Thomas; three sisters, Belva Winn, Katherine Turner and Thelma Stover; and a brother, Arnold Thomas.

He is survived by a son, James K. Thomas, of Hillsboro; a daughter, Delores Allman, and husband, Mark, of Mt. Pleasant, North Carolina; two granddaughters, Alicia Witherspoon, and Jennifer Brown; two great-grandchildren, Jase Witherspoon and Ethan Brown; a brother, Franklin Delano Thomas, of Grundy, Virginia; and many nieces and nephews.

Graveside service was September 6 at Thomas Cemetery near Hillsboro with Pastor Mike Moore officiating.
