James Tawney

James Franklin “Frankie” Tawney, age 57, of Stamping Creek, passed away Friday, September 30, 2016, at Greenbrier Valley Medical Center in Fairlea, following complications from pneumonia.

Born November 24, 1958, in Clay County, he was a son of the late Joseph W. and Lena King Tawney.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, David Slawter and Richard King; and a sister, Donna June Tawney.

He is survived by his loving wife, Tammy Tawney; six daughters, Marie Mellinger, of Marlinton, Danelle Tawney Hubbert, and husband, Michael, of Callaghan, Virginia, Autumn Tawney and Danielle Akers, both of Twin Falls, Idaho, and Ashley Good and Jasmine Shearer, both of Durbin; a son, Edmond Shearer, of Buckeye; 11 grandchildren; three sisters, Phyllis Waugh, and husband, James, of Buckeye, Dianna Ray, and husband, Jake, of Twin Falls, Idaho, and Brenda Robinson, of Marlinton; two brothers, Joseph “Bunker” Tawney, of Snowshoe, and Freddie “Pete” Tawney, and wife, Frannie, of Buckeye; and many nieces and nephews.

James was laid to rest October 4 in Sharp Cemetery on Stamping Creek.
