James Allen Gibson, age 70, of Marlinton, passed away Thursday, September 6, 2018, at his home.

Born July 8, 1948, at Marlinton, he was a son of the late Jimmy H. and Marie Clara Harsh Gibson.

James was of the Baptist faith. He was a coal miner, truck driver for McGee Trucking and a maintenance worker for Snowshoe.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, James Michael Cassell.

He is survived by his wife, Sally Kay Ray Gibson; daughters, Shelia Ray Sharp, and husband, Jason, and Violee “Sissy” Weatherholt, and husband, Kevin, all of Marlinton; sons, Jamie Gibson and John Gibson, and wife, Niska, all of Buckhannon, and Chris Gibson, and wife, Melonie, of Marlinton; sisters, Barbara Lane, and husband, Dave, and Karen Weatherholt, all of Marlinton; a brother, Jack Gibson, of Marlinton; 12 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral service was held September 9 at Lantz Funeral Home in Buckeye with Pastor Sam Felton officiating. Burial was in Gibson Cemetery near Slaty Fork.
