Huldah Stemen

Huldah E. Stemen, age 86, of Boyer, formerly of Delphos, Ohio, passed away Wednesday, September 17, 2014, at the home of her daughter, Marjorie.

Born March 31, 1928, in Cloverdale, Ohio, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Matilda Spitnale Bear.

Huldah was a homemaker. She was a member of the Sharon Mennonite Church. She was an avid gardener and a quilter, making comforters for the church sewing circle.

On June 24, 1951, she was united in marriage to Dale Stemen. He preceded her in death in 2001.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Helen Yoder; two sisters, Rowena Hammond and Margaret Bear; and eight brothers, Paul, Clarence, Harold, Manford, Joseph, David, Norman and Jacob Bear.

She is survived by two sons, Karl Stemen, and wife, Cindy, of Elida, Ohio, and Kenneth Stemen, and wife, Lena, of Loogootee, Indiana; two daughters, Janice Carpenter, and husband, Lester, of Shoals, Indiana, and Marjorie Plank, and husband, Dave, of Boyer; a sister, Mabel Brenneman-Amstutz, and husband, Vilas, of Delphos, Ohio; a son-in-law, Paul Yoder, of Elida, Ohio; two sisters-in-law, Marge Cleaves, of Elida, Ohio, and Kate Bear, of Florida; 23 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.

Funeral service was September 23 at Sharon Mennonite Church with John Brunk, Ron Bear and Lyndon Hartman officiating. Interment was in the Sharon Mennonite Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Sharon Mennonite Church.
