Hugh Jackson, Jr.

Hugh Young Jackson, Jr., age 71, of Selbyville, Delaware, passed away Sunday, January 31, 2016, at his home, following a three month illness.

Born February 17, 1944, at Marlinton, he was a son of the late Hugh Jackson, Sr., and Lucy Smith Jackson.

Hugh was a 1961 graduate of Marlinton High School and a 1965 graduate of Glenville State College. He was employed by Hercules Corporation for 25 years and the State of Delaware for 18 years. Following retirement he went back to work part-time at Fenwick Hardware until his recent illness.

He was an avid golfer and loved to return to Pocahontas County to fish and hunt.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Phyllis Lindell Jackson.

He is survived by his wife, Darlene Jackson; sons, Gregory, and wife, Lisa, of Newark, Delaware, and Bradford Scott, of Winter Haven, Florida; daughter-in-law, Tammy Jackson, of Dumfries, Virginia; brothers, Robert Jackson, and wife, Freda, of Marlinton, and Steve Jackson, and wife, Bonita, of Mt. Storm; sisters, Barbara Campbell, and husband, Tom, of Marlinton, and Dolores Turner, and husband, Robert, of Clifton Forge, Virginia; grandchildren, Stefanie Jackson, Brian Jackson, Tiffany Jackson and Bethany Jackson; step-daughters, Bernadette Wheeler and Charlotte O’Brien; step-grandchildren, Kelsi Atkins, Marisa Atkins, and Corey Robertson; two step-great-grandchildren; seven nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces-and-nephews.

Memorial service is Saturday, February 13, 2 p.m. at the Brandywine Senior Living Facility in Selbyville, Delaware.

A graveside service in the Fairview Cemetery in Marlinton will be held at a later date.
