Helen Kershner, age 101, of Droop Mountain, died Friday, October 13, 2017, at Pocahontas Center in Marlinton.

Born April 7, 1916, at Renick, she was a daughter of the late Orval and Nellie Brown Powell.

Helen was a faithful member of the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, where she was treasurer for many years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Kershner; brothers, Clyde Powell, Fred Powell and Edgar Powell and two infant brothers.

She is survived by her daughter, Dixie Sharp, and husband, Daniel, of Buckhannon; sons, Larry Kershner, and wife, Lynn, Wayne Kershner, and wife, Susan, all of Droop Mountain, and Roger Kershner, and wife, Nancy, of Queen Creek, Arizona; sisters, Betty Kershner, of Droop Mountain, and Edith Hammons, of Lewisburg; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

Funeral service was October 16 at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church on Droop Mountain with Pastor Pete Scott officiating. Interment was in the Whiting Cemetery on Droop Mountain.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, c/o Larry Kershner, 2032 Seneca Trail Hillsboro, WV 24946.
