Helen Kershner, age 101, of Droop Mountain, died Friday, October 13, 2017, at Pocahontas Center in Marlinton.\r\n\r\nBorn April 7, 1916, at Renick, she was a daughter of the late Orval and Nellie Brown Powell.\r\n\r\nHelen was a faithful member of the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, where she was treasurer for many years.\r\n\r\nIn addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Kershner; brothers, Clyde Powell, Fred Powell and Edgar Powell and two infant brothers.\r\n\r\nShe is survived by her daughter, Dixie Sharp, and husband, Daniel, of Buckhannon; sons, Larry Kershner, and wife, Lynn, Wayne Kershner, and wife, Susan, all of Droop Mountain, and Roger Kershner, and wife, Nancy, of Queen Creek, Arizona; sisters, Betty Kershner, of Droop Mountain, and Edith Hammons, of Lewisburg; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.\r\n\r\nFuneral service was October 16 at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church on Droop Mountain with Pastor Pete Scott officiating. Interment was in the Whiting Cemetery on Droop Mountain.\r\n\r\nIn lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Mt.
