Harry Preston “Junie” Gum, Jr., 81, of Cass, passed away Friday, August 28, 2026, at his residence. He was a lifelong resident of Cass.
He was a son of the late Harry Gum Sr. and Leabelle Pennington Gum.
Harry was the owner of Whittaker Campground at Cass, was a correctional officer at Huttonsville Correctional Facility, worked at Cass Scenic Railroad, and was an ambulance driver for Cass Fire Station for many years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by several half-brothers-and-sisters; and a grandson, David Wayne Cassell, II.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Bonnie Foe Gum; daughter, Lorie (Dave) Cassell, of Waveland, Mississippi; three sons, Brian Gum, of Marlinton, Harry Gum, III, of Cass, and Jason (Devan) Gum, of Dunmore; brothers, Norman Winans, of Virginia, and Rick Gum, of Cass; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was held Tuesday, September 1, 2026, at Wallace and Wallace Funeral Chapel at Arbovale, with Pastor Amy Paul officiating. Interment was in Arbovale Cemetery.
Wallace and Wallace Funeral Home in Arbovale was in charge of arrangements.
