Gertrude Gardner

Gertrude “Trudy” Moss Gardner, age 88, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away Tuesday, February 17, 2015.

She was born May 23, 1926, in Pocahontas County.

Trudy met and married the love of her life, Harrison Gardner, when they were teenagers. They grew up just miles apart.

She graduated from nursing school and worked as a registered nurse in Lewisburg. It was there, the couple welcomed their first daughter, Betsy. The family later moved to Columbus, Ohio, after Harrison accepted a teaching job at The Ohio State University of Veterinary Medicine.

The couple welcomed their second daughter, Mary, in Columbus, Ohio, where they also became members of Covenant Presbyterian Church.

Trudy enjoyed playing the piano and harmonica, singing, dancing and traveling with her family and friends.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Harrison McKim Gardner; daughters, Elizabeth “Betsy” Nini, and husband, Benny, and Mary Gardner Stotts, and husband, Michael; grandchildren, Jessica Fry, and husband, Matt, Michael Nini, and wife, Ashley, Nicholas Nini, Michael Stotts, Jr., and Cally Johnson, and husband, Ryan; great-grandchildren, Porter Nini, Matthew Fry and Madeline Fry; and many nieces, nephews, extended family and a host of friends.

Funeral service was February 20 at Schoedinger Northwest Chapel in Columbus, Ohio, with Dr. Tracy R. Keenan officiating. Interment was in the Union Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Covenant Presbyterian Church, 2070 Ridgecliff Road, Columbus, OH 43221.
