George Melvin Ware, 92, passed away Tuesday, January 14, 2025, at Augusta Health in Waynesboro, Virginia.

Born October 7, 1932, in Mingo, he was a son of the late John Spencer Ware and Louie Ann Vandevander Ware.

He was a life-long farmer and a devoted family man. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and vegetable gardening; he was well known for his prized tomatoes. George was a member of Barren Ridge Church in Staunton, Virginia
In addition to his parents was preceded in death by his wife, Inez Newman Ware; brothers, Gene Audrie Ware and D. Mason Ware; grandson, Martin Coleman, Jr.; sister-in-law, Shirley Ware; and brother-in-law Ivan Good.

He is survived by four sons, Grady Ware, and wife, Denise, of Crimora, Virginia, Nathan Ware, and wife, Gina, and Charles Ware-Rinaca, and spouse, James, all of Staunton, Virginia, and John Ware, and wife, Jeanna, of Mt. Sidney, Virginia; sisters, Wilma Good, of Mt. Sidney,Virginia, and Jessie Reeves, and husband, Earl, of Mt. Solon, Virginia; brother, John Ware, of Mt. Solon, Virginia; sister-in-law, Martha Ware, of Staunton, Virginia; seven grandchildren, Joshua, Chris-topher, Spencer, Rachel, Adam, Cooper and Joseph Ware; and six great-grandchildren, Samuel, Amber, Calin, Kayleigh, Christopher and Emily.

A funeral service was held Friday, January 17, 2025, in the chapel of Bear Funeral Home in Churchville, Virginia, with Pastor Bill Johnson officiating. Burial was in Union Presbyterian Church Cemetery. His grandchildren and nephews were pallbearers
