George W. Thompson, age 78, of Madison, Ohio, died Sunday, October 23, 2016, at his home.

Born August 4, 1938, at Thornwood, he was a son of the late Marvin and Margie Thompson.

At the age of 17, George moved to Ohio. He was an excellent machinist and worked for more than 30 years at Kennametal.

George loved to hunt and fish. He enjoyed target shooting with his friend, Gary, camping at his place in Pennsylvania, working on beautiful classic cars, but most of all, George loved his family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Buelah Thompson; and a grandson, Austen Bollinger.

He is survived by his daughter, Cindy Bollinger, of Evans, Georgia; a son, George “Pete” Thompson; his much loved grandsons, Brenden Bollinger, of Cleveland, Ohio, and Jared Bollinger, of Bethesda, Maryland; a great-granddaughter, Elle Turner, of Villa Rica, Georgia; three siblings, Betty Hudak and Paul Thompson, both of Madison, Ohio, and Earsel Thompson, of Geneva, Ohio; and his companion of 14 years, Lillian Mullins.

A celebration of life was held October 28 at the Perry Outdoor YMCA in Perry, Ohio.

Memorials in George’s name may be made to Western Reserve Hospice of Lake County, 5786 Heisley Road, Mentor, OH 44060; APL of Ashtabula, 5970 Green Road, Ashtabula, OH 44004; or APL of Lake County, 2600 North Ridge Road, Painesville, OH 44077.
