Freemont Jackson “Jack” Via, age 73, of Marlinton, and formerly of Clover Lick, passed away Tuesday, December 23, 2014, at Pocahontas Center.
Born August 22, 1941, in Vanderpool, Virginia, he was a son of the late George Freemont and Myrtle Virginia Lowry Via.
Jackson had worked in construction and was a drill operator.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, an infant, and Cliff and Rudy Via.
He is survived by his wife, Janice Arlene Ryder Via; five daughters, Virginia “Skizi” Deputy, Jackie Friel, Tresha Cassell, Shelby Kyle and Brenda Via; three sons, John Via, Richard Via and Justin Via; 17 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a brother, George “Gunky” Via, and wife, Brenda.
Funeral service was December 26 at Obaugh Funeral Home in McDowell, Virginia, with Pastor Scott Reese officiating. Interment was in the Wesley Chapel Cemetery in Bolar, Virginia.
