Freeman William Adkison, age 79, of Buckeye, died Monday, December 8, 2014, at Pocahontas Center.
Born July 17, 1935, at Mill Point, he was a son of the late Willie and Nema McClure Adkison.
Freeman was a retired construction worker and attended Marvin Chapel United Methodist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Cathy Adkison; sisters, Carol Adkison and Creola Adkison; and brothers, Paulmer Adkison and Carl Adkison.
He is survived by his wife, Nellie Sue Burgess Adkison; a daughter, Sue Kinnison, of Buckeye; sons, Freeman William “Billy” Adkison, Jr., of Mineral, Virginia, and Larry Miller, of Frankford; step-son, Johnny Kelley, of Pennsylvania; sisters, Dotty Shinaberry, of Mineral Virginia, Edna Short, of Rhodesville, Virginia, Launa McPhearson, of Florida, and Dream Jackson, of Buckeye; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Family will receive friends Thursday, December 11, from 6 to 9 p.m. at VanReenen Funeral Home. Funeral service is Friday, December 12, 11 a.m. at VanReenen Funeral Home with Pastors Christopher Scott and Audria Botkin officiating. Interment will be in Ruckman Cemetery in Buckeye.
