Frances Graham

Helen Frances Cunningham Graham, 93, of Buckeye, passed away January 2, 2015, at the home of her daughter in Buckeye.

Born November 17, 1921, in Marlinton, she was a daughter of the late Ervin C. and Bessie McGraw Cunningham.

She was a graduate of Marlinton High School and the National Business College in Roanoke, after which she worked for the Bank of Rocky Mount, Virginia. She married Jay B. Graham June 9, 1948, spent several years raising three wonderful children, and worked more than 40 years for the U. S. Postal Service as clerk and postmaster at the Buckeye Post Office, retiring at the age of 80 ½.

She was a member of Marlinton Presbyterian Church and Buckeye Chapel where she served as Elder and taught Sunday School for more than 60 years. She was an early member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #97.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her step-mother, Evelyn Ginger Cunningham; and a half-sister, Rose Nell Cole.

She is survived by her son, William E. Graham, and wife, Annette, of Buckeye; daughters Elizabeth Graham Lenn, and husband, Steve, of Jamestown, Kentucky, and Jaynell Graham, of Buckeye; grandchildren, Jay E. Tibbs, and wife, Sandra, of Winchester, Virginia, Maggie Nickels Cline, of Scottsville, Kentucky, Zachary Graham, and wife, Sarah, of White Sulphur Springs, and Tanner Graham, a student at West Virginia Wesleyan; great-grandchildren, Abigail Cline and Eva Kate Cline, of Scottsville, Kentucky, and Reagan Tibbs and Reese Tibbs, of Winchester, Virginia; sister, Dorothy McNeill, of Stuart’s Draft, Virginia; half-sister, Betty Shackleford, of Culpepper, Virginia; and a special niece, Helen Bertelkamp, of Nellysford, Virginia.

The family will receive friends Thursday, January 8, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Kimble Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Friday, January 9, 11 a.m. at Marlinton Presbyterian Church with Rev. John McDonald and Pastor Sam Felton officiating. Interment will be in Mountain View Cemetery.
