Flooding update

Notification from Pocahontas County Emergency Management
At this time Rt. 39 East of Marlinton is closed due to flooding. The National Weather Service is predicting a crest of 12 feet at Marlinton around 2 p.m. today, which is two feet above flood stage.
Marlinton Fire Department is asking people South of Main Street and between Rt.39 to Knapps Creek to evacuate. A shelter is in the process of being opened at the Marlinton Middle school. Red Cross is sending folks to manage it.
Reports of minor flooding the Durbin area. Back River road is closed on the Durbin end due to high water. Rt. 250 outside of Durbin was closed for a short time this morning by DOH to remove rocks from the road. The road is now open.
Rt. 66 going into Cass has a lot if free standing water and plugged coverts.
All County schools are closed today.
