March came in like a lion.

Mrs. Audrey Woods called to remind us that the first three days of March are rule days for the next three months, and they were all extremely cold and snowy. Snowshoe had 4 above zero Monday.

There was fog February 24. Fog in February is supposed to mean frost on that day in May.

TRAFFIC LIGHTS

We don’t know when they are coming, but Marlinton is due to get new traffic lights on Main Street from the State Road Commission. They are to be on the corners and have walk lights, etc. We have thought all along that it would crowd our streets but when we see what they are getting in Lewisburg, we want to raise an objection. We don’t need those monsters. Also, we hear some cities are going back to the hanging lights because the poles present a safety problem – something else to hit…

Alvon R. Dean, 66, of Marlinton; born at Rimel, a son of the late Cecil and Lucy Alderman Dean. Funeral service from VanReenen Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Mountain View Cemetery.

Sandy Cameron Rose, 85, of Campbelltown; born at Slaty Fork, a son of the late Henry and Caroline Rose. Service from the Campbelltown United Methodist Church with burial in Mountain View Cemetery.

Ralph R. Boggs, 50, of Hampton, Virginia; a native of Marlinton and son of the late D. B. Boggs and Leah Ruckman Boggs.

Mrs. Jessie W. Rexrode, 74, of Durbin; funeral held from the Church of the Brethren at Durbin. Burial was in the Arbovale Cemetery.
