County 4-H Camp
“Do you remember the ‘20s, ‘30s, ‘40s, ‘50s, ‘60s and ‘70s?”
This was the theme for the 1974 Pocahontas County 4-H Camp Pocahontas.
Enthusiasm and spirit could not be dampened by the rain on two different days. When registration ended on Monday, 143 boys and girls were in camp and of these, 59 were first year campers.
Tribal chiefs and sagamores were as follows: Delaware: Brenda Wyatt, chief; and Cindy Galford, sagamore. Cherokee: Cheryl Dunbrack, chief; and Kay Galford, sagamore. Mingo: Ronnie Mullens, chief; and Carolyn Eddy, sagamore. Seneca: Pat McLaughlin, chief; and Susie Nottingham, sagamore. Big Feet: Sally Evans, chief; and Linda Darnell, sagamore. …
The winner of the 4-H information contest was Marvina Doss. She received a full scholarship to next year’s camp.
The outstanding first-year camper award for a boy and girl went to Frosty McNabb and Margaret Mitch-ell. They each received a full scholarship to next year’s camp.
Wendy Wooddell was chosen as Spirit of the Camp.
Other awards went to Marvin Beverage, Hand H; Susie Nottingham, Health H; Tim Cassell, Head H; and Cathy Patton, Heart H.
CLASS REUNION
The Marlinton High School Class of 1934 held its 40-year Class Reunion at Allegheny Lodge, Minnehaha Springs Saturday, July 13, during Pioneer Days. Several of their teachers joined them for the occasion.

DEATHS
Albert Ward (Ab) Smith, I, of Marlinton, a son of the late Luther Lawrence and Frances Sharp Smith. Funeral was held from the Fairview Methodist Church with burial in the Fairview Cemetery.

Elbert Edward Pritt, 58, of Droop, a son of the late Wheeler C. Pritt and Switz-erland Jane Walton, of Droop. Funeral service from the Mount Zion Methodist Church at Droop with burial in the Sunset Cemetery at Jacox.
