Marlinton Elementary
Honor Roll for the first nine weeks.
Marlinton Elementary sa-lutes its best pupils with an Honor Roll.
When report cards are issued, students from 4th to 8th grade who have all A’s and B’s earn a place on the Honor Roll. No C’s are allowed, especially in conduct!
The requirements are rigid but quite a few students maintained consistently high averages.
They are: Fourth Grade: Mark Burnette, Mary Beth Clay, Linda Drumm, Addie Dunbrack, Elaine Friel, Kimberly Friel, Jeanette Lytle, Margaret Mitchell, Rachel Sharp, Darlene Tyree.
Fifth Grade: Melinda Beverage, Kathy Irvine, Charma Roy, Irene White.
Sixth Grade: Layton (To-ny) Beverage, Anne Burns, Pat Drumm, Candy Harper, Sharon Jordan, Elaine Kelley, Chris Lytle, Robbie NcNabb, Carol McNeill, Pamela Wiseman.
Seventh Grade: Brenda Defibaugh, Jeffrey Jackson, Andy Landis, Felicia Sharp, Kathy Sharp, Sheri Woods.

DEATHS
Mrs. Virgie Mary Cloonan, 75, of Renick, a daughter of the late George L. and Julie W. Taylor. Funeral service was held from VanReenen Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Mountain View Cemetery.

George Robert Wade, 52, of Hillsboro, a son of Fred G. Wade and Mabel E. Wade. Funeral service was held from the Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church with burial in Oak Grove Cemetery.

Harry Lee Rimel, 84, of Mountain Grove, Virginia, formerly of Pocahontas County; a son of the late R. D. and Mecca Harper Rimel. Funeral service was held from the Mountain Grove United Methodist Church with burial in Mountain Grove Cemetery.

Hazel Simmons Vandevender, 61, of Covington, Virginia; born at Bartow, a daughter of the late Robert and Della Puffenbarger Simmons. Funeral service was held from the R. M. Loving Funeral Home with interment in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
