Erma Snead

Erma Delores Snead, age 73, of Thornwood, passed away Friday, May 9, 2014, at her home.

Born March 3, 1941, at Snow Hill, she was a daughter of the late Charles Garvey and Mell Journell Rogers.

Erma attended the New Life in Christian Fellowship Church in Durbin and was a retired cook having worked for 16 years at Ryder’s Restaurant in Boyer, among others. She was also the caregiver for her granddaughter, Nina J. Hedrick.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her step-father, Luther Smith, Sr.; a son, Delford L. Smith; one grandchild; one great-grandchild; a brother, Luther; and step-brothers, James and Roscoe Smith.

She is survived by her husband, Arthur Kenneth Snead, Sr., of Harrisonburg, Virginia; daughters, Elizabeth Adkins, of Leslie, Tammy Tuner, of Ronceverte, Brenda Hedrick, of Bartow, Ada Snead, of Harrisonburg, Virginia, and Candy Arbaugh, of Bartow; sons, David Honaker, of Harrisonburg, Virginia, Teddy Smith, of Tazewell, Virginia, and Arthur Kenneth Snead, Jr., of Thornwood; step-sisters, Ollie Trent, of Washington; Arlene Hinkle, of Sidney, Ohio, Loretta Hinkle, of South Carolina, and Barbara Ann Dodds, of Sidney, Ohio; brothers, Victor G. Rogers, of Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, and Charles Rogers; step-brother, Jerome Smith, of North Carolina; 23 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; one great- great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service was May 13 at New Life in Christ Fellowship in Durbin with Pastor David Angel officiating. Interment was in the Lambert Cemetery.
