Elbert Franklin “Bud” Kellison, age 79, of Hillsboro, passed away Saturday, November 26, 2016, at Pocahontas Memorial in Buckeye, following a long illness.
Born July 13, 1937, at Beard, he was a son of the late Benjamin Franklin and Iva Taylor Kellison.
Elbert was a 1956 graduate of Hillsboro High School. He was a retired mechanic for the West Virginia Department of Highways and attended West View Baptist Church. He loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter. He was also very creative and enjoyed many complex woodworking projects.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Elbert Franklin “Buddy” Kellison, II; a daughter, Patricia Kellison Nary; brothers, Harry Kellison and James Kellison; and a sister, Betty Jean Kellison.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Violet McCoy Kellison; a daughter, Carolyn Kellison Rose, and husband, Tom of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; granddaughter, Takayla Nary Kaplan, and husband, Christian, of Beckley; sister-in-law, Gladys McMillion; many nieces and nephews; and a special companion, his little dog, Mickey.
Funeral service Wednesday, November 30, 1 p.m. at VanReenen Funeral Home with Pastor Ronald Kinzel officiating. Interment in Oak Grove Cemetery in Hillsboro.
