Earl Maynard Kelly, 83, of Hagerstown, Maryland, gave up his fight with cancer Saturday, July 20, 2024.
Born in Marlinton, on May 4, 1941, he was a son of the late Ward and Mary Kelley.
Earl was a graduate of Marlinton High School. He served in the U.S. Army from 1963 to 1966 and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He had a career as custom finish carpenter for 40 years. Earl moved to Silver Spring, Maryland, in 1962. In 1963, he met his bride, Judy Van Dyke, and they were married in January of 1966 and remained married for 58 years. Earl was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was an amazing carpenter, an avid reader, loved to hunt and fish and loved to watch John Wayne movies.
Earl was a faithful Christian and faithful friend, and a man who spent his life always doing good deeds.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Maybelle Hurst.
He is survived by his wife, Judy; sons, Anthony Earl Kelley, of Hagerstown, Maryland, and Eric W. Kelley, and wife, Melissa, of Martinsburg; granddaughter, Morgan Elisabeth Kelley, of Boonsboro, Maryland; bro-thers, Robert Kelley, of Hillsboro, and Harry Kelley, of Marlinton; sisters, Sylvia Smith, of Marlinton, and Marie Klinger, of Guntersville, Alabama.
Funeral service was held Thursday, July 25, 2024, at Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home in Hagerstown, Maryland. Interment was in Cedar Lawn Cemetery in Hagerstown.
