Donald Shears

Donald Theodore Shears, age 87, of Harrisonburg, Virginia, passed away Saturday, November 5, 2016, at his home.

Born January 26, 1929, at Arbovale, he was a son of the late Adolphus Theodore and Nola Mae Nicholas Shears.

Mr. Shears was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church. He retired from James Madison University after more than 18 years of service. He was a United States Air Force Veteran, having served 24 years and retired as Master Sergeant.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Jerry C. Shears and Marlin H. Shears.

He is survived by his wife, Jeanette Shears; a son, Gary Donald Shears, and wife, Gail, of Harrisonburg, Virginia; a daughters, Sharon Jean Shears, of Alexandria, Virginia; two grandchildren, Brianna Shears and Carley Shears; a sister, Lorena Mae Luton, of Fairview; and many nieces and nephews.

Graveside service will be held Saturday, November 19, 1 p.m. at the Arbovale Cemetery with Military Honors by the Pocahontas County Veterans Honor Corps.

Memorials may be made to the Stained Glass Window Fund of Asbury United Methodist Church, 205 South Main Street, Harrisonburg, VA 22801.
